An Alsatian-inspired aromatic white blend from LS Merchants that has quickly developed a devoted following. New to the range in 2021, it announces itself with layers and complexity that keep you intrigued through every sip. Predominantly Riesling, which was skin-soaked for 18 hours before pressing, blended with Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Vermentino. Light to medium-bodied with a perfect balance of palate weight and tight, saline acidity. This is a wine made with genuine curiosity and craft. It fits perfectly between the LS Merchants Vermentino and Chardonnay, and surpasses both in complexity.

Description

LS Merchants was founded in 2017 by Dylan and Taryn Arvidson in Margaret River, Western Australia. Born in New Zealand, raised in Geelong and relocating to Margaret River in 2009 to work at Juniper Estate, Dylan brings a restless winemaking intelligence to a region often associated with more traditional styles. LS Merchants sources small, special parcels from across Western Australia, including Margaret River, the Great Southern and Geographe, with an ethos of minimal intervention and genuine regional expression.

Dylan does not identify as a natural winemaker, but employs wild fermentation where possible and consistently pushes the boundaries of what the varieties and sites he works with can do. The Sunrider is a perfect example of that approach: technically skilled, genuinely inventive and deeply satisfying to drink. The Riesling is sourced from the Swinney Vineyards in Frankland River and picked at moderate ripeness to retain natural acidity. Skin soaking for 18 hours extracts aromatic compounds and texture before pressing. A wine that sits at the intersection of aromatic freshness and textural complexity.
