Description

One of my favourite reds from Australia. Deep red in colour with aromas that take me to my years in geology and the smell of freshly broken granite and flint. Mouth filling fruit but well balanced with smooth tannins it finishes long and clean.

Even more ‘European’ in style than the inaugural 2010 release, the 2011 Graillot Syrah continues the mission to produce a perfumed, elegant and structured Syrah style. Finely etched tannins and a mineral profile of graphite and charcoal form the foundation, above which we see black cherry fruit and small fruit-of-forest berries, and a broad aromatic spectrum of violets and smoky notes. Seductive and understated, it finishes long, fine and clean.

Fermentation and maturation are handled with precision to preserve fruit purity and balance. The style is classic Northern Rhône, combining dark fruit, spice and savoury complexity with firm but refined tannins. The result is a wine that shows both power and finesse, capable of ageing gracefully while remaining expressive in its youth.
