Chillable, juicy and unpretentious. Fresh red cherry, wild strawberry and a hint of earthy spice on the nose. Light-bodied and flowing on the palate, with juicy cherry, raspberry and strawberry, soft, approachable tannins and lively acidity. From Nomad's Garden. Description

Nomad's Garden is Ben and Ellie Schulz Dahlenburg's experimental winemaking project, rooted in the Alpine Valleys and King Valley of north-east Victoria. Every wine is single vineyard, handmade, wild fermented, and made with the lightest possible touch in the winery. The LJR Field Blend is a blend of Sangiovese and Grenache sourced from Melville's Vineyard in Rutherglen.

Ben machine-harvests in the cool of the night to maintain whole berries, top-loads gently into fermenters to avoid excess extraction, and ferments with only indigenous yeast. A short maceration of approximately one week, light extraction, then pressed to a combination of neutral French oak and stainless steel for roughly three months before early bottling.
Tasting Notes

Vintage: 2022

Colour: Light ruby with a bright, youthful transparency.

Nose: Fresh and vibrant with bright red cherry, wild strawberry and a hint of earthy spice. Light and inviting.

Palate: Light-bodied and flowing with juicy red fruit. Bright cherry, raspberry and strawberry flavours with soft, approachable tannins and lively natural acidity. Smooth, clean and deeply moreish. Best enjoyed slightly chilled.
