Description

The oldest Chardonnay vines on the estate, some planted in the mid-1990s, provide the foundation for this wine. Winemaker Rosie Menzies hand-harvests and sorts in the vineyard, working with four clones including 548, 95, Mendoza and Clone 6. Fermented in barrel with indigenous yeast, the wine spends 10 months on lees before tank maturation.

The BioGro-certified organic approach throughout the growing season ensures no synthetic inputs interfere with the natural expression of the site. Rated 95 points by Cameron Douglas MS.

Tasting Notes

Vintage: 2022

Colour: Pale to medium straw with bright, clear golden highlights.

Nose: Aromas of lemon, peach and apricot, with white and yellow stone fruit, quince and grapefruit peel. A core of minerality follows with clay and stone complexity, then lees and barrel notes adding texture and precision.

Palate: Great balance and a long finish, with a pithy lemon core at the centre. Citrus and white stone fruit flavours are complemented by toasty barrel notes and walnut. Fruit and barrel tannins work alongside refreshing acidity and fruit length in a wine of complexity and charm.
